Liver Dancing
When a struggling actress learns her estranged father has a terminal brain tumor, she reluctantly joins him on a chaotic road trip through California's wild landscapes, only to discover that the reckless dreamer she never understood might hold the key to finding her own courage before it's too late.
Ella is a frustrated young actress in Los Angeles, stuck between humiliating auditions and late-night bar shifts. Then she gets the call. Her estranged father Will has had a stroke caused by an aggressive brain tumour. Instead of committing to treatment, he escapes the hospital and shows up at her apartment with a plan: one last adventure.
Against her better judgement, Ella agrees. Their road trip takes them across California and into the Sierra Nevada. Casinos in Tahoe. Ghost towns in the desert. Psychedelic misadventures. Campfires under endless stars. A dangerous climb into the wilderness of Yosemite.
Decades of resentment erupt along the way. So does laughter. So do moments of real connection. As Will’s condition worsens, the trip becomes a race against time and an argument neither of them can win about how to spend what’s left.
“Sometimes the greatest adventure is learning how to say goodbye.”
